In many epidemiological researches the interrelation between a diet and preventive maintenance of cardiovascular diseases has been shown.

Howard BV studied the influence of a diet with the low fats contents and high vegetables and fruit contents on risk of cardiovascular diseases. During the research Women’s Health Initiative Dietary Modification Trial studied 48 835 women in a period of menopause, in the age of 50-79 years. In the group, where women adhered the diet, have entered 19 541 woman (40 %), and into the control group – 29 294 (60 %). In a diet the quantity of fats has been lowered to 20 % of the general caloric content, thus the greatest part of a diet were vegetables, fruit and grains. The final points were fatal and not fatal displays of ischemic illness of heart, infringement of brain blood circulation and cardiovascular diseases in general.

As a result, to the 6th year of studying in the basic group consumption of energy was reduced to 8,2 %, with small decrease in reception saturated (2,9 %), monononsaturated (3,3 %) and polynonsaturated (1,5 %) fats. The tendency to decrease in risk HII is noted at women who received a little of the saturated fats and many vegetables and fruit.

The President of Argentina Nestor Kirshner imposed a ban on beef export and has called the nation to refuse its use. Thus he expects to cause an overabundance of this meat on the market that will promote reduction of its prices and to the general reduction of inflation.

Inflation is one of the main problems of Argentina economy. At the moment the rise in prices makes 12 % of the year, however the given parameter is not stable, many people of the country remember the time when the box of milk could rise in price twice in one day.

For Nestor Kirshner it is not the first attempt to struggle with inflation by means of conscious restraint of consumption of this or that product. In the past year hundreds of Argentinean have followed to the president appeal and boycotted refuellings “Shell” during of the world petrol crisis.

Nevertheless, in case with beef economists-analysts outside and inside of the country predict to the president the failure. The matter is that the beef is one of the basic products in Argentineans diet, its consumption per capita (300 kgs a year) is the highest in the world.

Spiralling System
Yong Huang harvests lettuce that was grown using a new spiralling system created by his Epcot science team at the Epcot Center in Lake Buena Vista, Florida February 20, 2006. Huang and the Epcot team created the agricultural system by combining a 'film’ technique of nutrients with a spiral-shaped growing system to produce vertically grown lettuce. Once harvested, the lettuce will be served on salads at Walt Disney’s Epcot theme park restaurants.
