Ice-cream or Frozen Dessert?
Ipsos Reid researches published in their weekly journal «Dairy farmers of Ontario», shows interesting results. It appears that 96 % of Canadians prefer to buy for their children the present ice-cream made from the cow milk, instead of frozen dessert from vegetable oils. 83 % of Canadians emphasize, that it is important for them, that the bought ice-cream is really made of milk.

“Some manufacturers turned to manufacture the ice-cream on the basis of vegetable oils and have created the doubles of our favorite ice-cream marks marked as «the frozen desserts» — writes Peter Guld, the general director of the weekly journal «Dairy farmers of Ontario». — “For this reason dairy farmers advice consumers to search for the mark “ice-cream” on package, to buy the real ice-cream, instead of a dessert which can contain palm or coconut oil instead of cream. Consumers admit, that they feel deceived when think, that they have bought ice-cream, and then learn, that actually they had been sold not ice-cream, but only something similar to «the frozen margarine».

It is Not Harmful to Drink Coffee
All the previous researches gave not clear picture about influence of coffee on person, revealing both positive and negative influence on an organism. New research concerns all drinking both usual, and coffee without caffeine.

Research was spent by the Spanish scientists in which 84 thousand american women and 42 thousand american men have taken part. The research has shown that the regular use of coffee — up to 6 cups a day — is not connected in any way with risk of death among people of middle age.

Scientists also have not found out any communication between predilection for coffee and occurrence of a cancer.

People who took part in the research have filled questionnaires concerning to frequency of their use of the drink, other culinary habits, smoking and their state of health. Scientists have not found out any communication between risk of diseases and coffee mania.

Soya Products Reduce Memory of Older People
British scientists have found out, that the frequent use of soya products in advanced age, for example tofu, can worsen memory. On the basis of the received data they recommend to lower consumption of these products after 60 years.

Researchers from Universities of Loughborough and Oxford have compared food habits of 719 inhabitants of Java Island of the age from 52 till 98 years with results of their tests at memory. It has appeared, that at those who uses tofu more than once a day, memory functions in average on 20 % worse, than at other participants of the research.

This work lead under direction of professor Ejf Khogervorst, has served as an occasion for change of recommendations on the use of tofu and other soya products popular in vegetarians and adherents of healthy feed. It was considered, that the soya is rather useful because of the high maintenance of biologically active isoflavons. However, except of isoflavons, the soya is rich with phytoestrogens hormones which reduce memory and raise the risk of dementia in advanced age. The mechanism of such action is not found out yet.

Large Portions
Not last role in increasing of quantity of people with excess weight play standard portions of meal in supermarkets and cafes.

According to the research lead in the Great Britain, since 1990 the sizes of many cakes, mousses, single portions of chips and meat dishes have increased almost twice. For example, the portion of lasagna has increased from 250 g up to 320-500 g. Chocolate mousse has grown from 60 g up to 150 g. White loaf is cut into 40 g slices, instead of 30 g, as 18 years ago. The increasing of portions of high-calorific food within last 20 years coincides with «epidemic of adiposity», overflowed the Europe. It is follows to blame not only manufacturers, but also buyers. “Family” portions of sweets and chips, calculated on several persons, are often consumed in loneliness. At purchase of ready meal it is necessary to remember, that the refuse from superfluous quantity of calories can prevent more than 3000 death a year.
