Knead stiff paste out of flour, egg, salt and sugar. Wrap in plastic and let stay for 30 minutes.
To make filling, mix cherries with sugar and starch.
Roll out the pasty in very thin layer and cut into squares 1 ¾ x 1 ¾ inch (4.4.x4.4 cm). Put he cherry filling in the center of each square, tight up the corners, turn around a little and press them stiffly.
Deep fry the wraps in preheated vegetable oil until crisp and golden.
Sprinkle the ready wraps with powdered sugar, or cover with sugar or with berry sauce .
