Sort cowberries out and wash them. Put them into scalded glass jars and pour in cooled syrup.
To make syrup mix 1 quart (1 liter) water with 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 teaspoons salt, 7-8 allspice peppercorns and 8-10 clove buds. Bring to a boil and cool.
Store soaked cowberry in a closed jar in cool place.
Soaked cowberry may be used as garnish to meat, poultry, game, or as a component of salads.
