Knead yeast dough of flour, sugar, yeast, an egg and 1 cup of warm water. Leave to stand for 1 1/2–2 hours.
Roll dough out into a rectangular flat cake, smear with jam, roll up, and cut into 20 pieces. Shape rolls, and brush with syrup. Leave to stand for 20 minutes.
Cook rolls in the double boiler for 30 minutes.
