2 b (1 kg) salted herring
1 2/3 lb (800 g) carrots
1 2/3 lb (800 g) beet
1 2/3 lb (800 g) potatoes
4 appless
2 cups mayonnaise
1 tbsp gelatin
1 cup water, to dissolve gelatin
greens
Directions:
– Soak the gelatin in boiled cold water

– Rinse the vegetables well and boil separately in their skins. Fillet the herring and slice

– Peel the vegetables and grate coarse. Put separately in the plates

– When the gelatin grains are transparent, sieve it and let the water strain. Put the gelatin in a metal plate and set it into a big pot with hot water. Water level must be higher than the gelatin one. Dissolve the gelatin stirring constantly, cool but do not let thicken

– Combine the mayonnaise with the cooled gelatin and mix well

- Peel the apples, remove the seeds and grate

- Put the grated potatoes, carrots, apples and beets on a oval dish in layers coating each layer with the mayonnaise and jelly and interlaying them with the herring slices. Coat the hill with the rest of sauce and cool in the refrigerator. Decorate with the greens when serving
