Separate egg whites and yolks.
Dry out oat flakes on a frying pan until golden.
Combine the yolks and half of the sugar with boiling water, and beat until fluffy.
Whip egg-whites until the foam is stable while beating in the rest of sugar, and combine with the beaten yolks.
Beat in the flour and oat flakes to the paste, leaving some quantity for adorning. Put the paste on a buttered baking form and bake over 480-500oF (240-260oC).
Unmold the pie, cool, cut into two flat cakes, and paste together with the cream (see the recipe) or jam. Decorate with jam or cream. Sprinkle with the rest of oat flakes and, if preferred, chopped nuts.
