 Annually in May in Catalan city of Llejda takes place the festival of snails “Aplec del Caragol”.
The holiday takes place already more than 25 years, it has been established in 1979 by local epicure Manolo Calpe.
In a holiday12 thousand inhabitants of Llejda and about 200 thousand visitors participate. In the course of three days of the fiesta they prepare about 12 tons of exotic clams (with known llejda sauces).
There are a lot of meal, drinks and dances. However many parties are private, it is necessary to have the invitation from native inhabitants to get there. If you can`t get it, set of the small restaurants are at your service, they offer typical Catalan dishes of snails. |
